Margarita Cruz: Administrator

 
 
 

MARGARITA CRUZ: Administrator Originally from East Los Angeles, graduate of Garfield High School, she received her BA from the Evergreen State College in Olympia WA, and later a graduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Margarita began her career working for non-profits profits working with children in Alcohol Prevention Programs. She then spent more than 30 years working for various municipalities, including El Monte, in the field of economic and redevelopment. She is directly responsible for the construction of over 500 units of affordable housing units. She has successfully secured many grants for the cities that employed her. Margarita has also managed community public education programs related to affordable housing and the design build of a senior center. She has retired from the public sector and joined the SGVFC Board in March of 2019. After the former Administrator retired she agreed to join the Family Center as a part time administrator. Her primary goal is to keep the good works of the organization moving forward and to manage and preserve the organizations assets (camp facilities) for future generations.

Victor Lerma: Maintenance Supervisor As a youth Mr. Lerma participated in the El Monte Boys and Girls Club and was hired as a full-time employee after completing high school.  Over the years he has had variable responsibilities in support of the organization.  He is responsible for the operations and maintenance of Camp Voorhis- Viking and the Pine Mountain Camps.  He also supports the food distribution program by securing food products from the Los Angeles Regional food banks.  He also manages the refrigerated and dry storage facilities.  Mr. Lerma has been an integral part of the organization’s success employed by the organization for over thirty years.  

Larry Mar: Nutrition Program Supervisor.  Mr. Mar supports the food distribution program.  He assists with collection of food from the Los Angeles Regional food bank and is responsible for interagency relations.   He initially began his involvement as a volunteer for more than four years.  As a position opened, he was hired as a full-time employee on January 1, 2012.  Mr. Mar is a retired attorney

Veronica Sotelo-Ruiz: Nutrition Program Supervisor Ms. Sotelo-Ruiz is the liaison to Target stores securing commitments for food product donations and conducting food pickups. She transports these items to our distribution sites with the aid of volunteers. She has been employed by the organization for 9 years and prior to that was a volunteer for three years, totaling to 12 years with the organization.
